2026 Transfer Portal (MIAMI NEWS ONLY)

pretty sure Elmer zoomed with Louisville too

I think Eian would fit in well with Pat Kelsey’s system.

Eian also is a good fit with Travis Steele’s system. I’m holding onto hope.

Knowing how we play, wanting everyone to be able to shoot (except maybe a big man), I was looking at players on this list from Evan Miyakawa who are in the 6’5+ range at a school lower than Miami looking to move up to help fill the Elmer/Byers void.

If he can get a waiver, Jaiden Lipscomb from CSU is interesting. Elite shooter, 6’5, Columbus OH guy. Played 2 years JUCO and 3 years D1 though, so not sure how that waiver will go.

TJ Nadeau from Detroit another 6’5 elite shooter. Michigan kid.

Lukas Walls another 6’5 shooter from Knoxville.

Vartiainen, 6’6 from Finland from Weber St.

Totally unconfirmed:

There was a report yesterday that the top wings are commanding 2-4 million a year. Unless you have a very large donation to make, it is safe to assume Elmer is justifiably going to cash in at somewhere not named Miami.

Sounds like he got a strong ass offer…

Does Tyler Daigle realize that Eian played this past season?

What - and I mean this sincerely - the fuck are Brian Niccol and our coach’s in-laws (among others) waiting for?

I keep hearing stories about how many rich people our athletic dept has access to. If not now, when?

Care about who is coming rather than where ex players end up. That said if he is getting that huge pay day great for him

Currently searching my couch cushions for more change - may be coming up a bit short.

Maybe saving it up for something more permanent like the new Arena?? One can hope!

Hey, good for Elmer. Hope he makes the most of it and can get attention to play pro ball (most likely overseas).

However, LSU freaking SUCKS as a team (15-17, won THREE conference games in a crappy SEC) and is about the same education as Toledo, but the dude got paid. That’s pretty cool.

They just re-hired the best coach they’ve had since Dale Brown. The education points are boring, it’s not a relevant when in one year you can 20-40x the avg starting salary, but it’s a nice story we can tell about ourselves.

They just invested a whole hell of a lot in Will Wade and will be spenders in the portal. Would not be surprised if LSU is a tournament team next year. Remember, you just need to go basically .500 in the SEC to get in the dance.

Also, I have not seen that Elmer news reported anywhere else beyond one questionable tweet so not sure its actually done, but he has been linked to interest from LSU.

As long as we are only losing our impact guys to Big Ten, Big XII, ACC, SEC type schools, there’s not much we can do or complain about. I don’t see it as a failure of Miami or the staff if those leagues are poaching us. If we start losing guys to other one bid leagues, we can start raising eyebrows. The money gap is just worlds apart between us and the big leagues.

Seriously, good luck to Elmer wherever he ends up. He did a great job at Miami.

Re: LSU: This is Wade’s 2nd run in Baton Rouge, just seems like a mediocre coach, imo. Awesome Dale Brown reference!

First Edit: (Whoops. Forgot all about the bribery investigation and recruiting violations that brought in the FBI. Hey, if Cal and Ricky P can come back, and Steve Fisher too, no biggie).

Second edit: Bruce Pearl FTW!

I’m typically this way but for these guys, who were responsible for the greatest Miami season that we will probably ever see, I will continue to follow and root for them (unless their new teams play us somehow).

This. I hope Eian, Brant, and Trey win a bunch of games. Each one of those guys had multiple moments which made 31-0 a reality. Thank you to those guys and I wish them great success… unless they play us. Then I’ll root for their teams to lose that day/night… and then I’ll go back to rooting for them to have great success.
