2026 Basketball Portal

I probably feel a lot better about it than Tech fans.

We’ll see how the inevitable lawsuits shake out, but NCAA confirms today it is going to try to push through 5 in 5 here in May but will start by saying it will not apply to guys finishing up this year. We’ll see if that withstands the judge shopping in home jurisdictions that will be forthcoming I’m sure.

Very good news to a player like Ipsaro–can make up for the loss of last season!

=>Seems a little high does it not? I guess it includes D2s.

For D1s, it is at least 2,679 that entered.

You know Shane Tuttle is a spoof account. You have been had.

No, not really.

Per Bleacher Report:
"There’s a new baseline for yearly roster spending among contenders in men’s college hoops.
$20M. What we know:

āž¤ About 15 schools will spend $20M+ this season, an ACC staffer told On3
āž¤ Some teams are dropping $5M on one player.
āž¤ Spenders: Duke, Texas, Louisville, Tennessee, Indiana, North Carolina, UConn, Michigan, Arizona, Florida

Then there’s Kentucky, which spent $22M last year to … lose in the second round by 19."

Per this report Xavier tripling its roster budget of 5-6 million for this coming season. https://x.com/businesscourier/status/2052359107059802533?s=46&t=F-WLIxbyYlhHo-puMzmVzw

It all word of mouth and whispers, but its insane how many programs who were reportedly in that 4-5m range last year are now saying they’ll be in the 10-15m range.

I honestly believe Miami probably made a big commitment to hoops compared to last year like Steele and Sayler have been calling for, but the entire market moved by equal or greater percentage leaving us about where top MAC programs have been on the relative scale. I hope we are at least peers with Akron now, which reports indicated was not the case last year.

Per Pete Nakos:
As the portal season winds to a close, Tennessee and Louisville have emerged as two of the most aggressive spenders in college basketball this offseason, headlining a market that’s reached a staggering new threshold. Texas coach Sean Miller said he believes 20 to 25 teams are spending upward of $20 million on their rosters.

The Volunteers landed On3’s No. 1 overall transfer Juke Harris, with sources saying he is expected to make upward of $4 million next season, pushing Tennessee’s portal class to over $18 million. Four hours northwest, Louisville was equally aggressive. The Cardinals landed Kansas big man Flory Bidunga for over $5 million and Oregon guard Jackson Shelstad for over $2 million, with the Cards’ roster already over $18 million and expected to surpass $20 million.
