Will he end up at the University of Duke?
I’m guessing Duke or Rutgers, like his big brother. Possibly Indiana but Duke’s easier to get to from NJ than Bloomington is.
That’s because it’s the State University of New Jersey at Durham
Close to Cary - which means Center for All Retired Yankees.
Mason Shrout commits to Fort Wayne

Interesting choice over Ivy League Columbia University reported offer.
One of those cases where you wonder about the level of high school competition. Probably a good choice. If not, there’s always the portal.
Not sure level of HS competition matters as much anymore. AAU and other evaluations pits these kids up against high level players from April-August. Shrout was playing for All Ohio Red (top Nike program) —-he probably ends up at level he’s best suited.
Commits to FGCU

Curious commitment, both for him and Miami. Assumed he was a priority for Steele, so it’s a bummer. And to FGCU? Nothing against them but that’s a weird spot for a SW Ohio kid to end up. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
It seems odd but FGCU was an NCAA sweet sixteen team in 2013 and has been to the big dance twice since then. It gives a coach of an otherwise unremarkable program something they can sell.
Maybe likes the beach. MU doesn’t have that.
I went to a game there in 2022. It is a very nice campus, new, but spread all over the place. In terms of FGCU’s league, it is not as good as the MAC. The game we saw was entertaining, but the level of play was not up to MAC standards. FGCU’s coach was fired at the end of that season. as noted above, different strokes…
Washington was only in SW Ohio for a year. His father was an AC on the UD Women’s BB team.
Also, FGCU is a basketball HEAVY school. Facilities are nicer.
Dylan Harper (#2 national recruit and Ron’s son) just committed to Rutgers.
Following in his brother’s footsteps.
